Hey Everyone!

Just thought I'd share sort of like a "Frequently Asked Questions" kind of thing for GR, just in case if anyone wants to know more about GamingRiot on SMF...

"What do we offer?"

The same as big name Gaming sites such as IGN, or 1up.com. What makes us different? The fact that we are more of an "Off limits" kind of site, and the only real possible way to get banned is simply saying something negative. If you're joking around, don't expect consequences. Expect them when you're being a douchebag Tongue

"What do you cover?"

Basically anything and everything in the wonderful world of Gaming. I was an ordinary Gamer up until about 2 years ago, when I went to Collasal - Con (A Cleveland Gaming event) with my brother, as a favor to him. I immediately fell in love with the Gaming/Anime culture, and wanted to know more about it. Anyway, we cover all things gaming, as well as other topics such as movies, or music, or even YouTube!

"Who runs GR?"

Just me, Nick Riot. There is no other Mod, or Admin. However sometime in the future, if the site grows , then I may have to shop around for "Staff Members"

"What social network sites are you on?"

For the time being, just on YouTube, which our link for it is YouTube.com/GamingRiot. Though as the site expands, we  may get on Facebook, or Twitter.

"Is there any other way to reach you in case of a problem?"

No. I have an e-Mail address, but that is personal. You can only reach me by either sending me a PM here, or messaging me on YouTube. I try go on YouTube as much as possible, because it serves as a median for Marketing.

"Where do you get all of your news stories from?"

Simply put, the internet. Whether from GamePro, 1up, IGN, or G4, whenever I (Or YOU) post a news piece in which you got from a different site other than GR, you MUST put the credited source. Any news story that doesn't have that will be taken down immediately. I don't want to give the false impression that I was the original source for said story.

Any other questions? Feel free to PM me, or Message the YouTube account! Thanks!

Hey Guys,

Just to let everyone know, the Member of the Month won't start until either September, or October, varying on the amount of members we get. Now, if you REALLY want to be a MOM that bad, there's really no set list of qualifications to be a Member of the Month, except maybe how much you participate with other members, and so fourth. It's all for fun anyway, so try not to set yourself out to be the MOM every month..That just sounds odd, I know Tongue

Happy Gaming!

At the end of a week that saw both Nintendo and -- especially -- Capcom  report big drops in profit for the first fiscal quarter of the year (ending June 30), Sega has now also reported their own numbers, and surprise-surprise, it's actually good news...kind of. Despite disappointing sales from two of their more high-profile releases, Sega still saw a profit of 7 billion yen ($80.8 million), although much of it was due to their pachinko business in Japan.

Sega reports that Alpha Protocol and Iron Man 2 both recorded sluggish sales, with the former selling 700,000 units globally and the latter only slightly better at 1.12 million units (via Industry Gamers). "While domestic sales were mostly firm, in the overseas markets, sales of new titles remained slow as affected by the adverse market condition," Sega said.

Despite this statement, though, Sega actually saw most of their game sales in the quarter coming from overseas, with 1.68 million units sold in North America, 1.33 million in Europe, and only 270,000 in Japan (for a worldwide total of 3.29 million units sold).

Still, it was a huge improvement over their first quarter results last year, which saw a 10.29 billion yen loss. But again, most of Sega's success this quarter was thanks to their pachinko and pachislot business in Japan, which contributed 48.9 billion of Sega's overall 91.3 billion yen revenue for the quarter.
